The Liberty Building is a new 26-storey building which provides 155 homes next to the Crossharbour DLR station in the Isle of Dogs. Four vertical elements run with the area’s urban grain; taller on the western side facing Canary Wharf, lower on the east where it abuts a lower-rise residential zone, helping create a transition between these areas. The use of brick responds to the 19th-century warehouses and the terraced houses on either side. We were responsible for the full mechanical and electrical design including the detailing of the communal heating system, water distribution system and a new substation and energy centre.
