The new-build residential development is built on an empty corner site on Marmont Road, adjacent to two Victorian terraces. The project comprises of eight residential units, including one duplex unit. The height and facade provide a suitably robust form to this prominent corner site, whilst remaining harmonious to the scale of the neighbouring buildings. A simple palette of brick, timber, zinc cladding and stone provide a sympathetic contemporary response to the surrounding context.
We provided all mechanical, electrical, drainage and sustainability services for the project including an energy report, PV calculations, SAPs and EPCs. The site is located within the East Southwark critical drainage area which has a high risk of surface flooding so the site surface water drainage incorporates new sustainable drainage systems (SuDs). The development adopts a high standard of design with regards to energy efficiency principles and achieves at least a 40% carbon dioxide emissions reduction and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 certification.
