The regeneration of the 1960s Alma Estate creates 933 new homes, including 200 council rented homes and 199 shared-ownership properties. New community facilities include a medical centre, flexible retail spaces, restaurants and leisure facilities. Spanning over four phases, the project includes a new energy centre which will supply heating to the development, as well as an extra 500 units as part of the Lee Valley Heat Network. The initial energy strategy proposed a new temporary energy centre with its own heat substation is to be built as part of Phase 1A with a new, site-wide energy centre built in Phase 1B and the boilers in the temporary energy centre decommissioned.
The new primary heat network will supply a new substation and two existing substations that will serve the entire development. We are providing all mechanical, electrical and sustainability services for phases 2A and 4 including revised energy and sustainability strategies, daylight and sunlight analysis, overheating analysis, microclimate wind assessment, fire strategy, detailed design of the energy centre (in line with the LVHN specifications), all associated below and above ground distribution, utilities study and coordination.
