Located in the London Borough of Wandsworth, Hafer Road is a cooperative housing development providing 15 new residential units on an existing 1950’s council block and former bomb-damaged site infill. A new basement provides accommodation for the maisonettes, which are naturally lit via two external courtyards to the rear and a continuous lightwell to the front. Two stair cores give access to the dual aspect flats which have external terraces, projecting balconies and recessed terraces at roof level.
We provided all mechanical and electrical services for the project. An in-situ reinforced concrete frame with galvanised steel structural framing allows for increased thermal insulation, flexibility in opening positions for the windows and conceal rainwater pipes within the external wall construction. A brown roof helps increase biodiversity and photovoltaic panels have been installed to provide renewable energy.
